Physical therapy can help improve or restore the mobility you need to move forward with your life. If you are looking for a possible alternative to surgery and/or pain medication, consider a physical therapist. Your physical therapist can help you with arthritis, back pain, knee pain, osteoporosis, overuse injuries, shoulder pain, stroke, sprains, strains, and much more.
Aquatic therapy consists of an exercise program that is performed in the water. The buoyancy provided by the water assists in supporting the weight of the patient, which decreases the amount of stress placed on joints. This makes exercise less painful. The water provides a source of resistance, allowing muscles to strengthen. It utilizes hydrostatic pressure to decrease swelling. And the warmth of the water assists in relaxing muscles and increasing blood flow to injured areas. Aquatic therapy can help with many conditions including fibromyalgia, back pain, muscle spasms, sprains and strains, arthritis, and total joint replacements.
Occupational therapy can promote health and prevent – or live better with – illness, injury, or disability. Your occupational therapist can help you with upper extremity conditions including broken bones or other injuries, burns, amputations, limitations following a stroke or heart attack, and much more.
Speech and language pathology can assist patients in learning to produce sounds correctly or fluently. And it can assist patients with language disorders that may have trouble understanding others or sharing thoughts, ideas, and feelings completely. Children with speech or developmental delay, as well as adults who have suffered a stroke or other medical condition, may benefit from speech therapy.
